“Los rendimientos que estamos generando \u2013si los ponemos en ese contexto\u2013 son, en el mejor de los casos, poco notables. A nivel nacional, gastamos m\u00e1s de $800 mil millones en educaci\u00f3n, lo que puede parecer mucho, pero es solo el 3-5% del presupuesto federal, mientras que gastamos un 19-20% en defensa”, explic\u00f3. “En cuanto a la competitividad en educaci\u00f3n, hemos descendido en el escenario global, a pesar de la cantidad de dinero que hemos gastado. At the national level, we spend $800 billion plus [on education], which sounds like a lot, but it\u2019s just 3-5% of the [Federal] budget, while we spend 19-20% on defense,\u201d he explained. \u201cWhere we rank competitively in education, we have dropped on the global stage, notwithstanding the amount of dollars we have spent.
